This Saturday there is another chance to help out fron the Tornadoes in Minden and Shelby. Mike Krummel has some farm ground that needes to be walked, it has been too wet but we are planning asistnce on Satrday May 11 at 3 pm on the ground near Shelby.

Helpers should have boots and gloves, and a bucket would not be a bad additon to your attire. Interested? Contact Pastor Matt for details of meeting or location of ground.

Thanks in advance for any who can share some time to help serve.

We are hoping to gather people to help in clean up in Minden and Shelby and surrounding farms, tomorrow May 4 and Sunday May 5.

We can access Minden now - so If there are any who would like to help clearing debris and such from yards and moving it to the curbs for disposal Pastor was hoping to gather people at the church by 10am to take over a few vehicles of people and youth ti assist in this work.

Weather might not allow us to help walk fields to look for debris on Saturday, but again on Sunday we hope there will be enough dry time to help in the Minden and Shelby areas from say 1 to 5 pm. People coming would need to bring gloves and buckets, and in a disaster area boots are always recommended.

Please contact Pastor Matt if possible to help plan for these two events.

Thank you. Every drop helps to fill a bucket.

We have moved almost all our supplies out now to help people with Tornadoe Relief in Elkhorn, NE. We still have quilts available and some health kits here at Trinity.

Thank you to all those who in many ways jave asisted us to do this early work. Especially we want to thank Avova Building Supply, Avoca Seed, Nutrien in Hancock, Ia, as well as Titan industries here in Avova. Each of these businesses has aided us with equipment and some additional hands to help make our work successful in delivering to Minden and Elkhorn.

We also thank the couples who drove from Ohio and Boyden Ia to deliver supplies to us from NALC Disaster Relief.

Glad I could be of help in coordinating to make this happen.

Our Christian Service delivered 50 of their beautiful quilts to those in need in Minden. These ladies do so much that we never hear about. 50!

Tornado Relief update:
This will be the first of several information updates of supplies coming to Trinity Lutheran in Avoca from the North American Lutheran Church. Tornadoes in Oklahoma have added to and changed supply lines. It is to our advantage though ascthe truck coming to Avoca has been on the road from Dayton Ohio since early today.
The box truck will be arriving around noon tomorrow and unloading half of its load here so people in outlying areas of Shelby Tennant and Harlan have a location near them. The second half will be taken to Neola the NACC.
Supplies that will be available starting tomorrow are Flood Bucket - loaded with gloves, industrial bags, cleaning supplies. Also there will be health kits with a towel and general health supplies, Kitchen Kits with basic equipment for getting started, quilts at a 1per person to bless each family. Shortly there will be tools such as garden rakes and shovels as well.
Supplies will be available fot pick up at the church parking lot on the North side of the building. If you have Relief needs or questions please contact Pastor Matt Bahnfleth 402-750-8327 or church office at 712-343-2518 between 8 am and Noon Monday through Friday.

Tornadoes that went through Minden, Shelby area, and into Harlan and Tennant have left many with suddenly changed lives. Father, give Your Church grace and strength to reach to those whose lives have been changed by these disasters. May they see You love for them in the midst of hardship, through the service and care of Your body. In Jesus' name. Amen

As a part of the North American Lutheran Church our national Disaster Relief has already begun to move into place. At Trinity we have already received from our Iowa warehouse: quilts and Bibles to be brought to families (1 per person in each family on quilts) that have been affected. Also we have flood buckets (with cleaning supplies and helpful for debris removal), health kits and kitchen kits to help families who have nothing. Any one in need can contact us or come to the church to get supplies.

A truck is coming again this way on Tuesday with even more supplies. We will have them stored in our parking lot so people can come and get assistance continually. We are working to get in contact with area EMA groups to determine where supplies are needed and numbers who have been affected.

We are in this for a long hall so we will most likely have people coming from all over who would need housing or supoort from the church as they come to help rebuild and clean up these neighbors who have been affected.

Please share this information, especially with family members and friends who may have been impacted by these events, gather information and let us know who needs assistance.

Here are the twelve who joined the Church at our Lord's table. They were a blessing to teach and our prayer is that they will always hunger for this meal, and all of its benefits. May God continue to feed you as you go.
